Jacqueline illustrates leg exercises for Vogue Japan's October issue

I was recently commissioned to illustrate over 20 illustrations of leg exercise for a 3 page article in Vogue Japan. I've worked for them several times previously, mainly for the beauty section.

Chloé's New Bond Street store, recently opened- invites Jacqueline Bissett along for a day drawing their new collection to celebrate London Fashion Week

I had the honour of working in Chloé's wonderfully designed New Bond St boutique a couple of weeks ago in celebration of London Fashion Week. The staff there were really friendly and made me feel at home on the saturday, the shop has a lovely atmosphere and I enjoyed sketching the customers while they shopped and drank champagne!

Fashion portraits at a beautiful afternoon tea at The Bvlgari Hotel, Knightsbridge

Spent yesterday afternoon with a bunch of very hip, stylish fashion & lifestyle bloggers in The Spirit Room of The Bvlgari Hotel- a super stylish hang out for Knightsbridge locals and visitors alike. Below are some of the sketches that I did as quick 12-15 minutes of the ladies who were all model like in appearance- made my job very easy!!!

Melanie Sykes interview

Met the gorgeous Melanie Sykes yesterday. She popped down to my studio to get her portrait done and interview me for her website www.melaniesykes.com (coming soon). She has a section where she interviews celebs, entrepreneurs , sports personalities etc so I felt honoured to be asked! We had a lovely frank conversation over lunch and got on like a house on fire- what a lovely down-to-earth woman. Watch this space for the upcoming interview....

Vogue Japan July's Health issue double page spread, illustrated by Jacqueline Bissett.

The article was specifically on healthiness and exercises for the promotion of strong bones. Commissioned by Kyoko Takahashi, Jacqueline was asked to supply 13 illustrations of various exercises and body parts in pale colours for a soft, subtle feel. Her paint splatters were used extensively throughout the Health section of the July issue.

Savéol billboard illustrations commission showing on the Paris Métro now.

This is the second commission from French groceries company Savéol that I have worked on. It's been really great fun creating these fun and jaunty figures for them. It's one area that I love to work in- creating brand identity fashion illustrations for specific clients to promote and advertise their product. There are many considerations, with the client usually requesting some of these in the briefing. Eg. the characters here had to be friendly, approachable look whilst having a fashion feel to them with their elongated legs! The girls were to be shown in different locations- shopping, cycling and sitting outside a cafe.

Here are my initial rough pencil sketches which were changed only slightly before transferring into finals- the medium used was black acrylic inks, oriental brushes and letrafilm collage.

Open House in Brighton next month. Jacqueline Bissett- fashion illustrator to exhibit life sketches

I am really proud to be supporting the YMCA Open House ( @YMCADLG) in Hove next month for Brighton's hugely successful May Festival. If you've ever wanted to purchase some art or just follow the Artist's Open House Trail- this is your perfect opportunity! This year I have decided to show my costume life drawings for the first time. As a fashion illustrator, you should always keep in touch with your life drawing skills and draw from a model where possible. It's not as easy as it looks and is a lifelong learning technique which never fails to excite me! Here will be a chance to purchase some of my original clothed life drawings in Pastel and Charcoal. All details are on the poster below...

Harvey Nichols launch Malée natural beauty products in collaboration with illustrator Jacqueline Bissett

The launch of Malée's new soy candles in Harvey Nichols coincided with Mother's Day so I had a busy 2 days illustrating portraits on tote bags in the Beauty Lounge on the ground floor.

I've been enjoying a fabulous collaboration with Malée whose natural beauty products are divine! With ingredients and inspiration from Africa, the products are gorgeous- my favourites are the Conditioning Body Scrub in Verdure which makes your skin SO soft, finish with their gorgeous moisturising oil. These are great products with a wonderfully resfreshing scent and not too feminine so even my husband approves!

Last month we worked on a little 'film' for the illustration work that I did for the packaging. The brief was to be inspired by Malée Masquerade photographs to create something lively and be able to reproduce in different colour ways for the 3 scents.

Jacqueline illustrates The Arch window for GP Studio for London Fashion Week

Had a fab time a couple of weeks ago drawing directly onto GPStudio's huge arch windows in Southwark, South London. Drawn on March 2nd, I started at 11 am and finalised by 6pm. It was my first time drawing ion that scale and on glass. The post pens were a joy to use, going smoothly onto the window and even 'wet' enough to splash- which is something I love to do! I draw a rough on the outside glass first of all as the final piece would have to be drawn back to front otherwise it would not 'read' well! I think the hardest part was actually writing back to front as i'd featured designers and wanted to 'credit' them. Featured designers included House of Holland, Emporio Armani,Peter Pilot, Mary Katranzou. Click here for GP Studio's page on their Arch Window- they are always looking for new artists!

Fashion illustrator's visit to Qatar a huge success

Had a fab time in Qatar last week. An incredibly busy week which doubled in size after meeting the owner of Van Cleef & Arpels himself. I was meant to work monday and tuesday and ending up there all week. Drawing the most glamourous ladies in Doha, I captured them in pencil in @ 10 minutes, working up to 10 hours per day! It's exhausting work but incredibly satisfying. I must've drawn 100 special guests over the course of the week. Managed to have a little time sightseeing- Doha is like a mini Dubai with many modern skyscrapers. There's an underground system being constructed in time for the World Cup in 2022. The Jewellery and Watch exhibition (@DJWE2017) was opened by the Prince of Qatar and attended by many VIP guests.

Jacqueline Bissett to illustrate in Qatar next week!

I'm really excited to be working for http://www.vancleefarpels.com/eu/en.html for the third time in the Middle East. Their clients are always SO glamourous and modest and really enjoy sitting for their quick fashion sketch. Many of the ladies wear Hijab, the scarves that are beautifully wrapped and styled out, framing their strong features- they are always wonderfully inspiring to draw!

I have developed a pencil sketch style for Van Cleef & Arpels which I draw onto their paper which has been printed with their latest collection. This way the client gets a fashion portrait of themselves, wearing the uniquely designed jewellery to take home. I love visiting these exotic locations and have previously travelled to Bahrain and Kuwait for the same company.

Spring Summer 2017 collections of Balenciaga, Prada, Chloe, Armani, Miu Mui and Bottega Veneta

Self directed seasonal 'sketchbook' working from the latest collections from luxury brands and top fashion houses. Loose watercolour inks splashed around the page to portray the new candy bright colours of Spring/ Summer 2017. Featuring Balenciaga's fabulous Spandex trouser/boot combo with more than a nod to  1970's disco. There are a lot of early '80's influences around at the moment in both colour and styling.

Watercolour inks, collage in Letrafilm and papers

Previous seasons illustrations featuring designs by Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Oscar De La Renta,, Dior and Prada from 2015. I'm always drawn to the fabulous new colours/prints- LOVE these bright colours!

Bafta nomination for best costumes goes to...Joanna Johnston

I had the honour last year of working on my first film with famous costume designer Joanna Johnston. Joanna has worked for the past 30 years on a huge variety of films from 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' , 'Saving Private Ryan', 'The Man from UNCLE', 'Warhorse' to name a few from her impressive CV. We worked together at Paramount's new location in Syon Lane, West London which was a huge eye-opener for me- it's another world. It was all very top secret and I had to piece together clues of the film that would unravel to become 'Allied', based on a true story. Joanna's attention to detail was incredible. I worked in awe of the amount of vintage samples of dresses, uniforms, gorgeous handbags. The watercolours of Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard were presented to the film studios in LA and used post production as promotional material.

If you haven't yet seen the film, you're in for a real treat- it's very stylish and has a very authentic feeling of that time. Marion Cotillard and Brad Pitt are fantastic and the film keeps you guessing all along whether the woman he's married to, is who she claims to be!

You magazine Christmas perfume article

This was a lovely 6 page commission for The Mail on Sunday's You magazine on Xmas perfume shopping guide. It was great fun to work on, drawing character types all with Xmas themes. It was a lovely brief- the Art Director gave me a layout to work towards, giving examples of my previous work which gave me a clear idea of expectations. Having done similar for the New Year's party guide for You magazine in 2015, I hope this will be an annual tradition!

BULGARI in Selfridges

Had a wonderful time last week, drawing guests at the launch of Bulgari's latest collection.

The jewellery is absolutely stunning and pieces are based on their snake head motif. Customers were invited to try on the necklaces so they could take a fashion portrait home wearing it, perhaps to inspire a present from their loved ones (?!)
