Fashion illustrator's visit to Qatar a huge success

Had a fab time in Qatar last week. An incredibly busy week which doubled in size after meeting the owner of Van Cleef & Arpels himself. I was meant to work monday and tuesday and ending up there all week. Drawing the most glamourous ladies in Doha, I captured them in pencil in @ 10 minutes, working up to 10 hours per day! It's exhausting work but incredibly satisfying. I must've drawn 100 special guests over the course of the week. Managed to have a little time sightseeing- Doha is like a mini Dubai with many modern skyscrapers. There's an underground system being constructed in time for the World Cup in 2022. The Jewellery and Watch exhibition (@DJWE2017) was opened by the Prince of Qatar and attended by many VIP guests.

Jacqueline Bissett to illustrate in Qatar next week!

I'm really excited to be working for http://www.vancleefarpels.com/eu/en.html for the third time in the Middle East. Their clients are always SO glamourous and modest and really enjoy sitting for their quick fashion sketch. Many of the ladies wear Hijab, the scarves that are beautifully wrapped and styled out, framing their strong features- they are always wonderfully inspiring to draw!

I have developed a pencil sketch style for Van Cleef & Arpels which I draw onto their paper which has been printed with their latest collection. This way the client gets a fashion portrait of themselves, wearing the uniquely designed jewellery to take home. I love visiting these exotic locations and have previously travelled to Bahrain and Kuwait for the same company.

Spring Summer 2017 collections of Balenciaga, Prada, Chloe, Armani, Miu Mui and Bottega Veneta

Self directed seasonal 'sketchbook' working from the latest collections from luxury brands and top fashion houses. Loose watercolour inks splashed around the page to portray the new candy bright colours of Spring/ Summer 2017. Featuring Balenciaga's fabulous Spandex trouser/boot combo with more than a nod to  1970's disco. There are a lot of early '80's influences around at the moment in both colour and styling.

Watercolour inks, collage in Letrafilm and papers

Previous seasons illustrations featuring designs by Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Oscar De La Renta,, Dior and Prada from 2015. I'm always drawn to the fabulous new colours/prints- LOVE these bright colours!

Bafta nomination for best costumes goes to...Joanna Johnston

I had the honour last year of working on my first film with famous costume designer Joanna Johnston. Joanna has worked for the past 30 years on a huge variety of films from 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' , 'Saving Private Ryan', 'The Man from UNCLE', 'Warhorse' to name a few from her impressive CV. We worked together at Paramount's new location in Syon Lane, West London which was a huge eye-opener for me- it's another world. It was all very top secret and I had to piece together clues of the film that would unravel to become 'Allied', based on a true story. Joanna's attention to detail was incredible. I worked in awe of the amount of vintage samples of dresses, uniforms, gorgeous handbags. The watercolours of Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard were presented to the film studios in LA and used post production as promotional material.

If you haven't yet seen the film, you're in for a real treat- it's very stylish and has a very authentic feeling of that time. Marion Cotillard and Brad Pitt are fantastic and the film keeps you guessing all along whether the woman he's married to, is who she claims to be!

You magazine Christmas perfume article

This was a lovely 6 page commission for The Mail on Sunday's You magazine on Xmas perfume shopping guide. It was great fun to work on, drawing character types all with Xmas themes. It was a lovely brief- the Art Director gave me a layout to work towards, giving examples of my previous work which gave me a clear idea of expectations. Having done similar for the New Year's party guide for You magazine in 2015, I hope this will be an annual tradition!

BULGARI in Selfridges

Had a wonderful time last week, drawing guests at the launch of Bulgari's latest collection.

The jewellery is absolutely stunning and pieces are based on their snake head motif. Customers were invited to try on the necklaces so they could take a fashion portrait home wearing it, perhaps to inspire a present from their loved ones (?!)

My NEW digital fashion portraits in Paris!

Commissioned by Scarlett Entertainment for LEXUS. This was a TOP SECRET night time event- with an undisclosed location. The guests arrived by coach at Luc Besson's- Cité du Cinéma in Saint Denis, on the outskirts of Paris. This was where The Fifth Element was filmed, amongst others. My iPad Pro was linked to a screen where I drew portraits of the guests until early hours of the morning. Met some lovely guests and other 'performers' including violinists, liquid nitrogen ice cream makers and 'Tron' dancers! It was a huge corporate event with European-wide guests.

'LA's Hottest Ticket'- Variety Magazine & Women in Film and Television's celebration @ Gracias Madre

Painting @40 guests as speedily as possible last friday night in LA was my most pressured job to date! Working with LA illustrator Sunny Gu, who was also drawing like crazy. Our mission from Rue La La, sponsors of the event was to "paint each guests in 2 minutes"- we did assure the client that was impossible but we would do our best!!!

It was packed with guests from U.S tv shows such as Ariel Winter (Modern Family) Jamie King (Sin City) Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black), and many many others!

Off to LA LA Land!

I'm SO excited to be part of the Variety Magazine & Women in Film's Television Celebration at Gracias Madre in West Hollywood this friday. I shall be drawing on the spot fashion portraits  of the beautiful people of LA- apparently this event is LA's hottest ticket !!!

Quick Summer update

Busy time juggling work and children- why do I always get SO much work as soon as the kids break up???!!!!!

In short- working on time lapses for large shopping centre, portraits for the Southbank Centre, packaging illustrations for room sprays to be released 2017, interviews coming up for TV, Pre-Emmy's party in LA in 2 weeks time, a top secret Paris event using my new iPad Pro end of this month...it's been hectic but really exciting stuff!

As soon as I can show images, I will!!!!

Wedding reception at Claridges for 'Private Drama' Events organiser

A fabulously elegant evening reception last friday night, working for Private Drama who also booked The Jersey Boys for the day! Caricature artist Luisa Calvo and myself worked side by side drawing the glamorous guests until midnight.

Mac no.3 event - Covent Garden

Another fabulous day drawing customers at Mac's stand alone James St store. Had a very busy and very hot day working alongside talented MUA's (only just worked out what that stood for- lol!) I think I drew nearly 40 portraits- it was crazy and full on but great fun!
